An uneasy calm reigned in the Pakistani city of Karachi tonight after the assassination of a senior politician triggered city-wide riots that left 45 people dead and more than 100 wounded.

Buildings and vehicles were set ablaze and angry mobs surged through the streets of the country's largest city after Raza Haider, an MP with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), was killed in a gangland-style hit on Monday night.

The violence underscored bubbling ethnic and political tensions in Karachi, a sprawling seaside metropolis that is home to 16 million people and Pakistan's most important port, banks and stock exchange.

Four assailants gunned down Haider, who is a parliamentarian in the Sindh assembly, in a city mosque during a funeral service. Anarchy gripped the city over the following hours as gunmen swarmed through the streets, seeking revenge.

The MQM, which ruled Karachi until earlier this year, represents the city's Mohajir community; most of those killed and injured in the reprisal shootings came from the smaller Pashtun community.

At the Jinnah postgraduate medical centre, where 54 people were being treated, ambulance drivers said most of the injured had been shot at point-blank range and appeared to have been targeted for their ethnicity.

"Most of the injured are Pashtuns, with a few Sindhis and Punjabis among the victims," said one source.

Jan Sardar, a 35-year-old Pashtun, was shot seven times. "When they fired the first shot, I jumped in a sewer to save myself, but they came after me and fired more bullets," he said from his hospital bed. The gunman was carrying an MQM flag, he added.

Clothes trader Ahmed Shah, who was shot in the leg, was travelling in a bus with 50 passengers when it came under fire.

"I didn't see who it was; it was dark," he said. A cousin said he saw seven dead bodies at the site.

Iqbal Hussain, a teenager from Swat, said he was left for dead after a gunman burst into his house in north Karachi, opening fire. A less fortunate friend was killed.

Officials at the Edhi Foundation rescue service said at least 100 people had been injured, with some unidentified bodies still lying in the morgue. Police put the death toll at 46.

Schools, business and markets did not open today and the streets were largely deserted. MQM leaders and hundreds of party supporters attended funeral prayers for Haider and his bodyguard Muhammad Khalid at Jinnah Ground in the MQM's Azizabad stronghold.

Despite threats of violence the funeral passed peacefully and an uneasy calm prevailed for the rest of the day. Authorities ordered schools and colleges to remain closed and paramilitary rangers were deployed to keep the peace.

The MQM, which is the dominant party in Karachi, blamed the Pashtun-dominated Awami National party, whose power base is in north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, for Haider's killing. Scores of people died in political violence in Karachi earlier this year but Haider was the first sitting parliamentarian to be killed.

He was targeted for having "raised his voice against criminal elements in pockets of the city," said Faisal Subzwari, a senior MQM politician. "He was under threat for being outspoken. And we know who are behind his murder," Subzwari told Dawn newspaper.

The police, however, blamed the killing on Taliban and sectarian outfits. City police chief Waseem Ahmed blamed the banned Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan. "We have credible information that this was done by the SSP. We have arrested 12 of their associates and are interrogating them at the moment," he said.

In Islamabad, the federal interior minister, Rehman Malik, said that 20 people had been arrested.

Karachi has a history of political bloodshed stretching back to the late 1980s when the city was regularly rocked by political and ethnic shootings that killed dozens every week. Analysts say the city is again in the grip of a political turf war.

"The MQM had virtual complete control over Karachi for the past decade; now other parties are fighting back, and this violence is a backlash to that," said analyst Cyril Almeida. "Until fresh local government elections are held, this will continue."

But, Almeida added, the origin of the violence was "murky". "There are tons of conspiracy theories, especially about why these incidents spike whenever there's a civilian government in power."

The MQM, which is in coalition with President Asif Ali Zardari's Pakistan People's party in the federal government, has warned that the influx of ethnic Pashtuns into Karachi risks a rise of "Talibanisation" in Pakistan's largest city.

ANP officials deny the allegations, saying most Pashtuns do not support the Taliban, and accuse the MQM of playing dangerous ethnic politics to gain political advantage.

At least 436 people have been killed on the first quarter of the current year in the result of ongoing wave of target killings in Karachi, official sources said. An official source demanding anonymity told a foreign news agency on Saturday from Karachi that 436 people had been reportedly killed during the first three months of 2011 as the result of armed clashes among different ethnic, religious, political and mafia groups in the city. Day to day death counting showed that such incidents, only in the month of March, claimed over 190 lives in the city. But Karachi police surprisingly, hiding the original figures, estimated the counting of killed persons at only 109 from January to March.

Bahraini police dispersed a demonstration in the capital Manama shortly after the launch of a "national dialogue" intended to turn the page on a deadly crackdown on Shiite-led protests, state media said.

The demonstrators gathered in the Sanabis neighbourhood of north Manama after the funeral of one of those killed during the February-March protests, the official BNA news agency quoted a police spokesman as saying late on Saturday.

It did not elaborate on why the funeral had been so delayed.

The police spokesman said that officers dispersed the "unauthorised" demonstration not far from Pearl Square, the focus of the anti-government protests earlier this year, after giving the standard warnings.

ISLAMABAD, April 13: Pakistan lodged a protest with the United States on Wednesday over the Angoor Adda drone attack, describing the continued drone raids as a ‘core irritant’ in counter-terrorism cooperation.

An unusual aspect of the remonstration was that it was the first time in a couple of years that a démarche was made on a missile strike targeting militants — an indication that Islamabad may be revisiting its tacit tolerance of hits by pilotless predators on militant sites.

Military sources confirmed to Dawn that those killed and injured in the drone attack on Wednesday were Afghans.

“Pakistan strongly condemns the drone attack at Angoor Adda today. We have repeatedly said that such attacks are counter-productive and only contribute to strengthening the hands of terrorists,” Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir told US Ambassador Cameron Munter while lodging the protest with him.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tehmina Janjua, however, emphasised that Mr Munter had not been summoned and he was at the Foreign Office to discuss bilateral issues when he was handed over the démarche. Drone attacks, usually denounced using clichés like ‘unacceptable’, ‘violation of sovereignty’ and ‘flagrant violation of humanitarian norms and law’, were probably for the first time identified as a core irritant in counter-terrorism cooperation.

“Drone attacks have become a core irritant in the counter-terror campaign,” a statement by the Foreign Office said.

The timing of the latest attack is also being seen as meaningful because it took place at a time when ISI chief Gen Shuja Pasha was on his way home from Washington after talks with his counterpart, CIA Director Leon Panetta. Gen Pasha had called for limiting the scope of drone attacks to North Waziristan as a precondition for reviving the stalled counter-terrorism cooperation.

The CIA-ISI cooperation has been on hold since January when CIA operative Raymond Davis fatally shot two youths in Lahore. The two agencies were close to resolving their operational differences last month (Davis release being part of that deal), but drone attacks on a jirga one day after the release killed the prospects for a rapprochement.

However, fresh efforts were made to normalise the ties and Gen Pasha’s visit to Washington was an effort in that direction.

It is not yet clear what impact the latest drone strike will have on what was described by Ambassador Munter a couple of days ago as ‘renewal in ties’.

Although drone strikes have been unpopular with the public, military commanders and civilian leadership started acknowledging their usefulness in targeting militants.

The General Officer Commanding 7-Division, Maj-Gen Ghayur Mehmood, had last month told reporters that “myths and rumours” about US predator strikes and casualty figures were many, but it was a reality that many of those killed in these strikes were “hardcore elements”, a sizable number of them foreigners.

If anything the latest protest indicates is that problems in bilateral ties may have compelled the civilian leadership and the military to probably rethink their tacit endorsement of drone attacks on militant targets.

Gulf troops enter Bahrain as protests escalate

Armed forces rolled into Bahrain from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to help restore order in the strategic Gulf kingdom where protesters have shut down the financial centre.

The Saudi government said it had responded to a call for help from its neighbour as Saudi-led forces from the Gulf countries' joint Peninsula Shield Force crossed the causeway separating the two countries.
"The council of ministers has confirmed that it has answered a request by Bahrain for support," the Saudi government said in a statement carried by the SPA state news agency.
It said that under an agreement of the six-country Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), "any harm done to the security of a member state is considered a harm done to the security of all members."
The United Arab Emirates also said it sent some 500 police to help "defuse tension," according to Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahayan.
The United States government was informed about Saudi Arabia's military intervention in Bahrain before it happened, a senior US administration official said.
"We received word that they were planning to head into Bahrain, but not with a significant amount of lead time," the US official said, asking to remain anonymous.
Bahrain Riots Alarm Oil-Rich Persian Gulf States With Restive Shiite Minorities

Tunisian and Egyptian revolts have sparked battle for freedom in a number of Arab countries. With the ouster of entrenched Pro-US Presidents Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali and Hosni Mubarak, the Arab world has erupted in popular protests for reforms and getting rid of tyrants. This week witnessed fierce anti-government demonstrations in Benghazi, the second largest town of Libya with hundreds of casualties. Similar demonstrations were witnessed in Algeria, Bahrain and Yemen. The governments have quickly resorted to violence to crush unrest before it gathers momentum that might threaten their grip on power.

After allowing several days of rallies in Bahrain capital, Manama, the riot police Thursday (2/17) stormed a protest encampment in Pearl Square before dawn, firing tear gas, beating demonstrators or blasting them with shotgun sprays of birdshot. At least five people were reported killed in the police assault on sleeping protesters.

Tellingly, unlike in Egypt, where the struggle was between democracy and dictatorship, Bahrain is suffering a flare-up in old divisions between its ruling Sunni minority and restive Shiites, who constitute 70 percent of the local population of 500,000.

The tension between the Sunni rulers and the Shiite majority runs deep, as it does throughout the Arab Middle East. Bahrain riots have broader regional implications since Saudi Arabia has a significant Shiite minority in its eastern, oil-producing districts.

According to US Religious Freedom Report 2010, Saudi Shiite faced significant employment discrimination in the public and private sector. A very small number of Shiite occupied high-level positions in government-owned companies and government agencies. Many Shiite believed that openly identifying themselves as Shiite would negatively affect career advancement. In the public sector, Shiite were significantly underrepresented in national security- related positions, including the Ministry of Defense and Aviation, the National Guard, and the Ministry of the Interior.

The Report went on to say that there was no formal policy concerning the hiring and promotion of Shiite in the private sector, but anecdotal evidence suggested that in some companies, including the oil and petrochemical industries, a "glass ceiling" existed and well-qualified Shiite were passed over for less qualified Sunni colleagues. Engineer Abdulshaheed al-Sunni, a high-ranking Shiite official at the King Abdulaziz Sea Port in Dammam, reportedly resigned in September 2009 due to oppression and injustice which prevented him from being promoted.

New York Times has quoted analysts as saying that Saudi Arabia would never allow the Bahraini monarchy to be overthrown. Bahrain is linked with Saudi Arabia through a 16-mile causeway. Ever since Bahrain began a harsh crackdown on protesters on Thursday, rumors have flown that Saudi Arabia provided military support or guidance. “Saudi Arabia did not build a causeway to Bahrain just so that Saudis could party on weekends,” said Toby Jones, an expert on Saudi Arabia at Rutgers University. “It was designed for moments like this, for keeping Bahrain under control.”

Most of Bahrain’s Shiites are poor, marginalized and discriminated against. They complain that the government is bringing in Sunnis from outside Bahrain and granting them citizenship in order to bolster the ruling elite’s political base: the country is less than 30 percent Sunni. More than 50,000 “imported” Sunnis from southern Pakistan, Balochistan, Jordan and Yemen - have been naturalized. Virtually everyone in the Ministry of Defense and the police is an "imported" Sunni from Yemen, Jordan, Syria and Pakistan.

According to US Religious Freedom Report 2010, only a few Shiite citizens held significant posts in the defense and internal security forces, although more were found in the enlisted ranks. The police force reported it did not record or consider religious belief when hiring employees, although Shiite continued to assert that they were unable to obtain government positions, especially in the security services, because of their religious affiliation. Shiite were employed in some branches of the police, such as the traffic police and the fledgling community police.

To borrow Pepe Escobar, the key problem is that Shiites defying the powers in Bahrain would seduce all other minority Gulf Arab Shiites, from Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates to Saudi Arabia itself.

Bahraini protesters have been insisting that this is a movement by the people for the people. When the protests started on Feb. 14, in a so-called Day of Rage modeled after events in Egypt and Tunisia, demonstrators called for a constitutional monarchy, an elected cabinet and a constitution written by the people, as opposed to one imposed by the king.

They want fair elections; the release of all political prisoners; and the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman al-Khalifa (the king's uncle, in power for no less then 39 years since independence from Britain), as well as the entire parliament. The prime minister, a major landowner, has come to symbolize the ill-gotten gains of the royal family, which virtually owns the entire country outright.

After Thursday’s attack on sleeping protesters by the security forces, the protesters are now calling that King Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa should step down.

The main Shiite party, al-Wifaq, had already lost any belief in the current democratic facade, withdrawing from the elected lower house of parliament (18 seats from a total of 40) in protest against the previous crackdown.

Bahrain is a key element of the US administration’s strategy against Iran: it is the headquarters of the Fifth Fleet, and will be the linchpin of any possible military action in the Gulf by US forces. The Manama naval base lets the U.S. military protect Saudi oil installations and the Gulf waterways used to transport oil, without any sensitive presence of Western troops on Saudi soil.

Bahrain’s king, Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa, and his family have long been American allies in efforts to push back the regional influence of Iran. In diplomatic cables made public by WikiLeaks, he urged American officials to take military action to disable Iran’s nuclear program. Bahrain, with its U.S. naval base, could be a target of Iranian reprisals if the United States or Israel attacked Iran.

Demonstrations in Kuwait

Tiny Bahrain riots have large implications for the oil-rich Persian Gulf region which controls world’s almost half known oil reserves.

On Friday (2/18) Kuwait, another oil-rich Persian Gulf state with about 30 percent Shiite population, witnessed violent demonstration. However, this demonstration by about 1,000 stateless residents, many of whom are of Iranian origin, was not for political reasons but to press for their demand for citizenship, free education, free health care and jobs, benefits available to Kuwaiti nationals.

The elite special forces forcefully dispersed the demonstration, using smoke bombs, water cannon, tear gas and batons after protesters ignored warnings to leave. At least five people, including a security man, were hurt as Kuwaiti riot police clashed with the stateless protesters demanding rights.

The stateless, known as bidoons claim they have the right to Kuwaiti citizenship, but the government says that ancestors of many of them came from neighboring countries and that they are therefore not entitled to nationality.

The bidoons belong to the same origins and races that live in Kuwait. Those origins and races exist on a wide geographical area, stretching from the Arabian Peninsula in the south, to the deserts of Iraq in the north, and to Iran in the east.

According to Kuwaiti government statistics, they currently number about 93,000 people but media sources place the number of Kuwaiti bidoon higher, at 120,000.

Many bidoons are denied driver’s licenses, cannot get birth certificates for their babies or death certificates for the dead. They are also banned from getting their marriage contracts attested. Due to stringent state restrictions, a majority of them are living in dire economic conditions in oil-rich Kuwait, where the average monthly salary of native citizens is more than $3,500.

Currently, the government obstructs the Biduoon's right to civil documentation by requiring them to relinquish citizenship claims before they can receive birth, marriage, or death certificates. The government does not recognize their right to work, and Bidoon children may not attend government schools. Despite the establishment of two previous administrative bodies to address their situation, the first in 1993, Bidoon attempts to claim citizenship continue to be blocked.

Refugees International Organization, in its May 2010 report said that the government of Kuwait continues to balk at granting nationality to its stateless residents, or bidoon as lack of legal status impacts all areas of their lives.

Kuwait must begin immediate and transparent reviews of all bidoon cases towards providing naturalization, the Organization urged adding: Kuwait should guarantee the bidoon the right to work and earn equitable incomes, allow their children to enroll in public schools, provide them healthcare free of charge, and issue certificates that record births, marriages, and deaths.

The bidoon’s demonstrations also highlight a simmering deep rooted issue of Shiite-Sunni divide in Kuwait as many of the bidoons have Iranian ancestory.

The US Religious Freedom Report 2010 cited some reports indicating many Shiite government employees face difficulties when it comes to promotions from one grade to another particularly in certain government authorities. The report added some leading positions are forbidden for the Shiites even if they are efficient to take over these posts because these posts are awarded only to Sunnis.

The reports added the government has imposed some restrictions on religious practices, hinting many Shiites are upset over the dearth of Shiite mosques in Kuwait and this can be attributed to slow government measures to agree to the construction of new Shiite mosques in the country. At the moment there are 35 Shiite mosques in the country compared to more than 1,100 Sunni mosques. Since 2001 the government has given its consent for the construction of only six new Shiite mosques.

Bahrain and Kuwait are members of the six-member regional grouping, the Gulf Cooperation Council, which also includes Oman Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Qatar and Oman have very nominal (5%) Shiite population while the UAE hosts around 15% Shiite population. Alarmed by the demonstrations in Bahrain the GCC Foreign Ministers held an emergency meeting on Thursday (2/14) in Bahrain, and pledged full support to King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. In their statement the Ministers said that that any attempt to destablize Bahrain’s security and stability will be seen as a transgression against security and stability of the GCC countries at large.

Manama, Bahrain - Bahrain's leading Shiite opposition group on Monday warned of possible unrest surrounding the verdict in the case of 19 youths accused of a 2008 bomb attack that killed a policeman.
"We don't want to see security deteriorate before or after the hearing, and we don't want to have new victims, opening the door for a security crisis that benefits no one," Sheikh Ali Salman, secretary general of the Al Wefaq Islamic Society said.

Hamad Town, Bahrain - Several cars were damaged when an apparently homemade bomb exploded in a suburb of Hamad Town, south of the Bahraini capital Manama, early on Tuesday.
The blast, in which no injuries were reported, was the latest in a series of violent incidences after more than 20 opposition figures and some 200 supporters were arrested on August 13.
All those detained are Shiites, who have openly called for a boycott of next month elections and refuse to recognize the country's constitution that was adopted in 2002.
The government has claimed that they are part of a terrorist network which was seeking to overthrow the monarchy.
Opposition groups, as well as local and international human rights organizations have expressed concern over the condition of the detainees and the status of civic freedoms

What is Eid
During the month of Ramadan, Muslims observe a strict fast and participate in pious activities such as charitable giving and peace-making. It is a time of intense spiritual renewal for those who observe it. At the end of Ramadan, Muslims throughout the world observe a joyous three-day celebration called Eid al-Fitr (the Festival of Fast-Breaking).
Answer: Eid al-Fitr falls on the first day of Shawwal, the month which follows Ramadan in the Islamic calendar. It is a time to give in charity to those in need, and celebrate with family and friends the completion of a month of blessings and joy.

Before the day of Eid, during the last few days of Ramadan, each Muslim family gives a determined amount as a donation to the poor. This donation is of actual food -- rice, barley, dates, rice, etc. -- to ensure that the needy can have a holiday meal and participate in the celebration. This donation is known as sadaqah al-fitr (charity of fast-breaking).
On the day of Eid, Muslims gather early in the morning in outdoor locations or mosques to perform the Eid prayer. This consists of a sermon followed by a short congregational prayer.
After the Eid prayer, Muslims usually scatter to visit various family and friends, give gifts (especially to children), and make phone calls to distant relatives to give well-wishes for the holiday. These activities traditionally continue for three days. In most Muslim countries, the entire 3-day period is an official government/school holiday.

JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia will start airlifting relief supplies for Pakistan’s flood victims on Wednesday, an official statement said on Tuesday. The supplies were ordered by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to alleviate the suffering of flood victims.“The Saudi Royal Air Force will establish an air bridge to Islamabad to transport the relief supplies,” the statement said. The Saudi Finance Ministry has already arranged large amounts of foodstuffs, medicine, blankets and tents for the flood victims.“We are coordinating with UN organizations to distribute humanitarian and emergency relief supplies worth $100 million, which the Kingdom had earlier allocated to support victims of natural calamities in Pakistan,” the statement said.Pakistan’s worst floods have hit more than three million people so far and the death toll has climbed over 1,400, a spokesman for the U.N. Children's Fund said on Tuesday. Abdul Sami Malik said 1.3 million people were severely affected by the floods in the northwest.Pakistani authorities are struggling to help victims of the flooding, many of whom have lost their homes and livelihood and say they had not received any official warnings that raging waters were heading their way.

How to Overcome Your Resistance to Change
Have you ever noticed that when you think about changing your life, you feel resistant? Many people say that they not only feel resistant, but they actually do things to keep their lives familiar. They do things like start a diet and then eat a candy bar on the first day, or quit smoking and then sneak a puff.
There are some things you can do to make yourself less resistant. Here are six effective strategies:
1. Eliminate clutter. Clutter can be viewed as a sign of uncertainty. Accumulating "stuff" might be stopping you from committing to an important thing. If you keep a lot of half-started projects around, it makes it difficult to zero in on the really important things.
2. Start small. Thinking of your overall goal can be overwhelming. So manage your resistance by choosing one small part of it and attacking it today. Let's say your goal is to lose 20 pounds. That can certainly seem like an impossible thing to accomplish. It will seem more doable if you tell yourself, I'm going to lose five pounds by (date).

6. Visualize the future. Author Barbara Sher suggests one way to do this: Write an imaginary press release about yourself. The date is today's date, two years in the future. The press release is announcing the most extraordinary event you can think of. It doesn't matter whether this event seems only vaguely possible to you. The important thing is that it is exciting to imagine.

Dubai is one of the seven states that make up the United Arab Emirates (UAE); it is located in the Middle East. The UAE borders the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf and is situated between Oman and Saudi Arabia. The United Arab Emirates was formed in 1971 by the then ‘Trucial States’ after their independence from Britain.
The UAE is governed by a Supreme Council of Rulers, the council is made up of the seven emirs and they appoint the prime minister and the cabinet for the country. The development of the oil industry has led to a large influx of foreign workers to the UAE, in fact Dubai’s population is the fastest growing in the world and the foreign population makes up about three quarters of the entire UAE population! As a direct result of this fact the UAE is one of the most liberal countries in the Gulf, with other cultures and beliefs tolerated. Dubai has also been quick to understand the need for diversification. Oil in the region is only projected to last for about 30 years and so Dubai has successfully embarked upon a major diversification program aimed to at developing industries and commercial enterprises to take the place of oil as the predominate commodity of the state's economy.The climate in Dubai is sub-tropical and arid or desert like. The city enjoys almost year round sunny blue skies. Rain is infrequent and if it does fall, it falls in the winter.
Temperatures range from lows of 10°C to extreme summer highs of 48°C. The average maximum daily temperature in January is 24°C and the average maximum daily temperature in July is 41°C when humidity is very high.

Finally Pakistan Announced 13 July 2009 will be the day of Freedom for SWAT Pakistani Formula: Public+Army = Swat Saved
Pakistanis are the nation who proved again that we can give and take as well, so lets talk about peace now, lets grow flowers and lets build our SWAT, some one said SWAT stands S for Sweetness All Time or Strong All Time. We give credit to those who took decision of taking out terrorists from our country, that was hard job for Army and Government but it looks like they have done nice job, we my will be able to say good or outstanding job later on when families will get set in there houses comfortably with water in tabs, electricity and gas as well.
Future Saved
We also give credit to MEDIA they collected the Nation in One Peace, we would say that little credit goes to Public of Pakistan who open doors for them. Well when we say little its mean that only 35% of Nation open there houses for them to let live for a while or so and 75% people said we can help but from money not sharing our houses and families.

Two Boats of Bahrain

Well nothing much I can say about these boats, I just liked the sean and I had a camera in my pocket while I was on the walk on the top of the bridge, so I record them just for fun and would like to share here with public.

Bahrain is a nice place for boating, fishing and water games such as water motorbikes race etc. I will include more stuff later on in this post, which will explain more about Bahrain.

Omanis are not only tolerant of the beliefs of different Muslim divisions; they are also tolerant towards believers of other faiths, who are allowed to practice their religion in churches and temples.
Muslims are required to pray five times each day after the call to prayer by the Imam. Beautiful, ornate mosques are found throughout the Sultanate, but they are not open to non-Muslim visitors. The holy month of Ramadan is a time of fasting and praying. For around 29 to 30 days each Islamic year, Muslims refrain from smoking, eating and drinking during the hours of fasting (from sunrise to sunset). Ramadan advances 10 to 11 days each year as it is governed by the lunar calendar. Out of respect, non-Muslim residents and visitors to the Sultanate are expected to observe the same principles in public.

Dress Code for Visitors:

The dress code is fairly liberal in Muscat, although decency is still expected. Women should wear, for example, tops with sleeves, and long skirts or trousers. Men are required to wear trousers and shirts with sleeves. Swimwear should be restricted to the beach or pools.

and they are feeling relaxed. Now on the other hand in west people are may not happy but its all about people who wants this LAW in the area.
So we can say easily that in Pakistan now whatever public demand or call eventually they get it sooner or later.

Ruling on celebrating the birthday of the Prophet

Praise be to Allaah the Lord of the Worlds, and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and all his family and companions.
The commands mentioned in the Qur’aan and Sunnah to follow the laws of Allaah and His Messenger, and the prohibitions on introducing innovations into the religion are quite clear. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Say (O Muhammad to mankind): ‘If you (really) love Allaah, then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow the Qur’aan and the Sunnah), Allaah will love you and forgive you your sins’”
[Aal ‘Imraan 3:31]
“Follow what has been sent down unto you from your Lord (the Qur’aan and Prophet Muhammad’s Sunnah), and follow not any Awliyaa’ (protectors and helpers who order you to associate partners in worship with Allaah), besides Him (Allaah). Little do you remember!”
[al-A’raaf 7:3]
“And verily, this is My straight path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His path”
[al-A’naam 6:153]
And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The most truthful of speech is the Book of Allaah and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad, and the most evil of things are those which are newly-invented.” And he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever innovates anything in this matter of ours (i.e., Islam), that is not part of it will have it rejected.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 2697; Muslim, no. 1718). According to a version narrated by Muslim, “Whoever doe anything that is not in accordance with this matter of ours (i.e., Islam), will have it rejected.”
Among the reprehensible innovations that people have invented is the celebration of the birthday of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in the month of Rabee’ al-Awwal. They celebrate this occasion in various ways:
Some of them simply make it an occasion to gather and read the story of the Mawlid, then they present speeches and qaseedahs (odes) for this occasion.
Some of them make food and sweets etc., and offer them to the people present.
Some of them hold these celebrations in the mosques, and some of them hold them in their houses.
Some people do not limit themselves to the actions mentioned above; they include in these gatherings haraam and reprehensible things, such as free mixing of men and women, dancing and singing, or committing actions of shirk such as seeking the help of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), calling upon him, seeking his support against their enemies and so on.
Whatever form it takes and whatever the intentions of those who do this are, there is no doubt whatsoever that it is an invented, haraam innovation which was introduced by the Shi’a Faatimids after the three best centuries, in order to corrupt the religion of the Muslims. The first person to do this after them was the king al-Muzaffar Abu Sa’eed Kawkaboori, the king of Irbil, at the end of the sixth century or the beginning of the seventh century AH, as was mentioned by the historians such as Ibn Khalkaan and others. Abu Shaamah said: the first person to do that in Mosul was Shaykh ‘Umar ibn Muhammad al-Malaa, one of the well-known righteous people. Then the ruler of Irbil and others followed his example.
Al-Haafiz Ibn Katheer said in al-Bidaayah wa’l-Nihaayah (13/137), in his biography of Abu Sa’eed Kazkaboori: “He used to observe the Mawlid in Rabee’ al-Awwal and hold a huge celebration on that occasion… some of those who were present at the feast of al-Muzaffar on some occasions of the Mawlid said that he used to offer in the feast five thousand grilled heads of sheep, ten thousand chickens and one hundred thousand large dishes, and thirty trays of sweets… he would let the Sufis sing from Zuhr until Fajr, and he himself would dance with them.”
Ibn Khalkaan said in Wafiyaat al-A’yaan (3/274): “When it is the first of Safar they decorate those domes with various kinds of fancy adornments, and in every dome there sits a group of singers and a group of puppeteers and players of musical instruments, and they do not leave any one of those domes without setting up a group (of performers) there.
The people give up work during this period, and they do no work except going around and watching the entertainment. When there are two days to go until the Mawlid, they bring out a large number of camels, cows and sheep, more than can be described, and they accompany them with all the drums, songs and musical instruments that they have, until they bring them to the square… On the night of the Mawlid there are performances of nasheed after Maghrib in the citadel.”
This is the origin of this celebration on the occasion of the Prophet’s birthday. More recently idle entertainment, extravagance, and wasting of money and time have become associated with an innovation for which Allaah has not sent down any authority.
What Muslims should do is to revive the Sunnah and put an end to bid’ah (innovation); they should not do any action until they know the ruling of Allaah concerning it.
Ruling on celebrating the Prophet’s birthday
Celebrating the occasion of the birthday of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is forbidden and is to be rejected for a number of reasons:
1 – it is not part of the Sunnah of the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) or of the khaleefahs who succeeded him. Since this is the case, then it is a forbidden innovation, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I urge you to follow my Sunnah and the way of the rightly-guided khaleefahs after me; adhere to it and cling to it firmly. Beware of newly-invented things, for every newly-invented thing is an innovation (bid’ah) and every innovation is a going-astray.” (Narrated by Ahmad, 4/126; al-Tirmidhi no. 2676).
Celebrating the Mawlid is an innovation introduced by the Shi’a Faatimids after the three best centuries in order to corrupt the religion of the Muslims. If a person does anything in order to draw closer to Allaah which was not done by the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) or enjoined by him, and was not done by the khaleefahs who succeeded him, this action implies that he is accusing the Messenger of not explaining the religion to the people, and that he disbelieves in the words of Allaah (interpretation of the meaning):
“This day, I have perfected your religion for you”
[al-Maa'idah 5:3]
because he is adding something extra and claiming that it is a part of the religion, but the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not bring this.
2 – Celebrating the birthday of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is an imitation of the Christians, because they celebrate the birth of the Messiah (peace be upon him). Imitating them is extremely haraam. The hadeeth tells us that it is forbidden to imitate the kuffaar, and we are commanded to differ from them. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever imitates a people is one of them” (narrated by Ahmad, 2/50; Abu Dawood, 4/314). And he said, “Be different from the mushrikeen” (narrated by Muslim, 1/222, no. 259) – especially with regard to things that are the symbols or rituals of their religion.
3 – Besides being bid’ah and an imitation of the Christians, both of which are haraam, celebrating the birthday of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is also a means that leads to exaggeration and excess in venerating him, which even goes as far as calling upon him (making du’aa’ to him) and seeking his help, instead of calling upon Allaah, as happens now among many of those who observe the bid’ah of the Mawlid, when they call upon the Messenger instead of Allaah, and ask him for support, and sing qaseedahs (odes) of shirk praising him, like Qaseedat al-Burdah etc. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade going to extremes in praising him, as he said: “Do not extol as the Christians extolled the son of Maryam. For I am just His slave, so say, the slave of Allaah and His Messenger” (narrated by al-Bukhaari, 4/142, no. 3445; al-Fath, 6/551), i.e., do not exaggerate in praising me as the Christians exaggerated in praising the Messiah and venerated him until they worshipped him instead of Allaah. Allaah forbade them to do that when he said (interpretation of the meaning):
“O people of the Scripture (Christians)! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, nor say of Allaah aught but the truth. The Messiah ‘Eesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), was (no more than) a Messenger of Allaah and His Word, (“Be!” — and he was) which He bestowed on Maryam (Mary) and a spirit (Rooh) created by Him”
[al-Nisaa’ 4:171]
Our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade us to exaggerate concerning him lest the same thing happen to us as happened to them, so he said: “Beware of exaggeration, for those who came before you were destroyed because of exaggeration” (narrated by al-Nasaa’i, 5/268; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Sunan al-Nasaa’i, no. 2863).
4 – Observing the innovation of the Prophet’s birthday opens the door to other kinds of bid’ah and being distracted by them from the Sunnah. Hence you find that the innovators are very active when it comes to bid’ah and very lazy when it comes to the Sunnah; they hate it and regard those who follow it as enemies, until their entire religion is innovated anniversaries and Mawlids. They have split into various groups, each of which commemorates the anniversary of its imaam’s birth, such as the births of al-Badawi, Ibn ‘Arabi, al-Dasooqi and al-Shaadhili. No sooner do they end the celebration of one birthday but they start the celebration of another. This results in exaggeration concerning these dead people and others, and in calling upon them instead of Allaah, believing that they can bring benefit and cause harm, until they deviate from the religion of Allaah and go back to the religion of the people of the Jaahiliyyah of whom Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And they worship besides Allaah things that harm them not, nor profit them, and they say: ‘These are our intercessors with Allaah’”
[Yoonus 10:18]
“And those who take Awliyaa’ (protectors, helpers, lords, gods) besides Him (say): ‘We worship them only that they may bring us near to Allaah’”
[al-Zumar 39:3]
Discussing the specious arguments of those who celebrate the Mawlid
Those who think that this bid’ah should be continued produce specious arguments which are flimsier than a spider’s web. These specious arguments may be dealt with as follows:
1 – Their claim that this is veneration of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him):
The response to that is that the way to venerate him is to obey him, do as he commanded and avoid that which he forbade, and to love him; he is not to be venerated through innovations, myths and sins. Celebrating his birthday is of this blameworthy type because it is a sin. The people who venerated the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) the most were the Sahaabah (may Allaah be pleased with them), as ‘Urwah ibn Mas’ood said to Quraysh: “O people, by Allaah I have visited kings. I went to Caesar, Chosroes and the Negus, but by Allaah I never saw a king whose companions venerated him as much as the companions of Muhammad venerated Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). By Allaah, whenever he spat it never fell on the ground, it fell into into the hand of one his companions, then they wiped their faces and skins with it. If he instructed them to do something, they would hasten to do as he commanded. When he did wudoo’, they would almost fight over his water. When he spoke they would lower their voices in his presence; and they did not stare at him out of respect for him.” (al-Bukhaari, 3/178, no. 2731, 2732; al-Fath, 5/388). Yet despite this level of veneration, they never took the day of his birth as an ‘Eid (festival). If that had been prescribed in Islam they would not have neglected to do that.
2 – Using as evidence the fact that many people in many countries do this.
The response to that is that evidence consists of that which is proven from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and what is proven from the Prophet is that innovations are forbidden in general, and this is an innovation. What people do, if it goes against the evidence (daleel), does not prove anything, even if many of them do it.
“And if you obey most of those on the earth, they will mislead you far away from Allaah’s path”
[al-An’aam 6:116 – interpretation of the meaning]
Nevertheless, in every age, praise be to Allaah, there have always been those who denounce this bid’ah and state clearly that it is false. Those who persist in following it after the truth had been explained to them have no proof.
Among those who denounced the celebration of this occasion was Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah, in Iqtidaa’ al-Siraat al-Mustaqeem; Imaam al-Shaatibi in al-‘I’tisaam; Ibn al-Haaj in al-Madkhil; Shaykh Taaj al-Deen ‘Ali ibn ‘Umar al-Lakhami who wrote an entire book denouncing it; Shaykh Muhammad Basheer al-Sahsawaani al-Hindi in his book Siyaanah al-Insaan; al-Sayyid Muhammad Rasheed Ridaa wrote a separate essay on this topic; Shaykh Muhammad ibn Ibraaheem Aal al-Shaykh wrote a separate essay on it; Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz; and others who are still writing and denouncing this bid’ah every year in the pages of newspapers and magazines, at the time when this bid’ah is being done.
3 – They say that by celebrating the Mawlid they are keeping the memory of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) alive.
The answer to that is that the memory of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is constantly kept alive by the Muslim, such as when his name (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is mentioned in the adhaan and iqaamah and in khutbahs, and every time the Muslim recites the Shahaadatayn after doing wudoo’ and in the prayers, and every time he sends blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in his prayers and when he is mentioned, and every time the Muslim does a waajib (obligatory) or mustahabb (recommended) action that was prescribed by the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). In all of these ways (the Muslim) remembers him and the reward equivalent to the reward of the one who does that action goes back to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Thus the Muslim constantly keeps the memory of the Messenger alive and has a connection with him night and day throughout his life through that which Allaah has prescribed, not only on the day of the Mawlid and things which are bid’ah and go against the Sunnah, for that puts one at a distance from the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and the Messenger will disown him because of that.
The Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) has no need of this innovated celebration, because Allaah has already bestowed veneration and respect upon him, as He says:
“and raised high your fame”
[al-Sharh 94:4]
For Allaah is not mentioned in the adhaan, iqaamah or khutbah, but the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is mentioned after Him; this is sufficient veneration, love and renewal of his memory, ad sufficient encouragement to follow him.
Allaah did not refer to the birth of the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in the Qur’aan, rather He referred to his Mission, and says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Indeed, Allaah conferred a great favour on the believers when He sent among them a Messenger (Muhammad) from among themselves”
[Aal ‘Imraan 3:124]
“He it is Who sent among the unlettered ones a Messenger (Muhammad) from among themselves”
[al-Jumu’ah 64:2]
4 – They may say that the celebration of the Prophet’s birthday was introduced by a knowledgeable and just king who intended thereby to draw closer to Allaah.
Our response to that is that bid’ah is not acceptable, no matter who does it. A good intention does not justify a bad deed and even if a person died as a knowledgeable and righteous person, this does not mean that he was infallible.
5 – They say that celebrating the mawlid comes under the heading of bid’ah hasanah (“good innovation”) because it is based on giving thanks to Allaah for the Prophet!
Our response to that is that there is nothing good in innovation. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever innovates anything in this matter of ours (i.e., Islam), that is not part of it will have it rejected.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 2697; al-Fath, 5/355). And he said, “Every innovation is a going astray” (narrated by Ahmad, 4/126; al-Tirmidhi, no. 2676). The ruling on innovations is that they are all misguidance, but this specious argument suggests that not every bid’ah is a going astray, rather there are good innovations.
Al-Haafiz ibn Rajab said in Sharh al-Arba’een: “The words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), ‘every innovation is a going astray’ is a concise but comprehensive comment which includes everything; it is one of the most important principles of religion. It is like his words ‘Whoever innovates anything in this matter of ours (i.e., Islam), that is not part of it will have it rejected.’ (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3/167, no. 2697; al-Fath, 5/355). Whoever innovates anything and attributes it to Islam when it has no basis in the religion, this is a going astray and is nothing to do with Islam, whether that has to do with matters of belief (‘aqeedah) or outward and inward words and deeds.”
(Jaami’ al-‘Uloom wa’l-Hakam, p. 233)
These people have no proof that there is any such thing as a “good innovation” apart from the words of ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) concerning Taraaweeh prayers, “What a good innovation this is.” (Saheeh al-Bukhaari, 2/252, no. 2010 mu’allaqan; al-Fath 4/294).
They also said that things were innovated which were not denounced by the salaf, such as compiling the Qur’aan into one volume and writing and compiling the hadeeth.
The response to that is that these matters had a basis in Islam, so they were not newly-invented.
‘Umar said: “What a good bid’ah” meaning innovation in the linguistic sense, not in the shar’i sense. Whatever has a basis in Islam, if it is described as an innovation, is an innovation in the linguistic sense, not in the shar’i sense, because innovation in the shar’i sense means that which has no basis in Islam.
Compiling the Qur’aan into one book has a basis in Islam, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had commanded that the Qur’aan be written down, but it was scattered, so the Sahaabah compiled it in one volume so as so protect and preserve it.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) led his companions in praying Taraaweeh for a while, then he stopped doing that, lest that become obligatory on them. The Sahaabah (may Allaah be pleased with them) continued to pray it separately during the life of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and after his death, until ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with them) gathered them behind one imaam as they used to pray behind the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). This was not an innovation introduced into the religion.
Writing down the hadeeth also has a basis in Islam. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) ordered that some ahaadeeth should be written down for some of his companions when they asked him for that. In general terms writing it down during his lifetime was not allowed, for fear that the Qur’aan might be mixed with things that were not part of it. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) died, this fear was no longer a factor, because the Qur’aan had been completed and arranged in order before he died. The Muslims compiled the Sunnah after that in order to preserve it and keep it from being lost. May Allaah reward them with good on behalf of Islam and the Muslims, because they preserved the Book of their Lord and the Sunnah of their Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) from being lost or being tampered with.
We may also say to them: why was this act of thanksgiving, as they call it, not done by the best generations, the Sahaabah, Taabi’een and followers of the Taabi’een, who loved the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) most and who were most keen to do good and give thanks? Are those who introduced the innovation of the Mawlid more rightly-guided than them? Do they give more thanks to Allaah? Definitely not!
6 – They may say that celebrating the birthday of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is indicative of their love for him; this is one way of showing that, and showing love of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is prescribed in Islam!
The answer to that is that undoubtedly loving the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is obligatory for every Muslim; he should love him more than he loves himself, his child, his father and all the people – may my father and mother be sacrificed for him – but that does not mean that we should introduce innovations for doing so that have not been prescribed for us. Loving him dictates that we should obey him and follow him, for that is one of the greatest manifestations of love, as it is said:
“If your love is sincere then obey him; for the lover obeys the one whom he loves.”
Loving the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) implies keeping his Sunnah alive, adhering firmly to it, and avoiding words and deeds that go against it. Undoubtedly everything that goes against his Sunnah is a reprehensible innovation (bid’ah) and a manifest act of disobedience. That includes celebrating his birthday and other kinds of bid’ah. A good intention does not mean that it is permissible to introduce innovations into the religion. Islam is based on two things, purity of intention and following [the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)]. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Yes, but whoever submits his face (himself) to Allaah (i.e. follows Allaah’s religion of Islamic Monotheism) and he is a Muhsin (a doer of good) then his reward is with his Lord (Allaah), on such shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve”
[al-Baqarah 2:112]
Submitting one’s face to Allaah means being sincere towards Allaah, and doing good means following the Messenger and implementing the Sunnah.
7 – Another of their specious arguments is when they say that by celebrating the Mawlid and reading the biography of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) on this occasion, they are encouraging people to follow his example!
We say to them that reading the biography of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and following his example are required of the Muslim all the time, all year long and throughout his life. Singling out a specific day for that with no evidence for doing so is an innovation, and every innovation is a going astray.” (Narrated by Ahmad, 4/164; al-Tirmidhi, 2676). Bid’ah does not bear any fruit but evil and it leads to a person distancing himself from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).
In conclusion, celebrating the birthday of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), whatever form it takes, is a reprehensible innovation. The Muslims should put a stop to this and other kinds of bid’ah, and occupy themselves with reviving and adhering to the Sunnah. They should not be deceived by those who promote and defend this bid’ah, for these types of people are more interested in keeping innovations alive than in reviving the Sunnah; they may not even care about the Sunnah at all. Whoever is like this, it is not permissible to imitate him or follow his example, even if the majority of people are like this. Rather we should follow the example of those who follow the path of the Sunnah, among the righteous salaf and their followers, even if they are few. Truth is not measured by the men who speak it, rather men are measured by the truth.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever among you lives (for a long time) will see many differences. I urge you to follow my Sunnah and the way of the rightly-guided khaleefahs who come after me. Hold on to it firmly. Beware of newly-invented matters, for every innovation is a going astray.” (Narrated by Ahmad, 4/126; al-Tirmidhi no. 2676). So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) explained to us in this hadeeth what we should do when there are differences of opinion, just as he explained that everything that goes against his Sunnah, be it words or deeds, is a bid’ah, and every bid’ah is a going astray.
If we see that there is no basis for celebrating the birthday of the Prophet, whether in the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) or in the way of the rightly-guided khaleefahs, then it is one of the newly-invented matters, one of the bid’ahs which lead people astray. This principle is what is implied by this hadeeth and is what is indicated by the aayah (interpretation of the meaning):
“O you who believe! Obey Allaah and obey the Messenger (Muhammad), and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority. (And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allaah and His Messenger, if you believe in Allaah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination”
[al-Nisaa’ 4:59]
Referring to Allaah means referring to His Book, and referring to the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) means referring to his Sunnah after he has passed away. The Qur’aan and Sunnah are the reference point in cases of dispute. Where in the Qur’aan or Sunnah does it indicate that it is prescribed in Islam to celebrate the Prophet’s birthday? Whoever does that or thinks that it is good must repent to Allaah from this and from other kinds of bid’ah. This is the attitude of the Muslim who is seeking the truth. But whoever is too stubborn and arrogant after proof has been established, then his reckoning will be with his Lord.
We ask Allaah to help us adhere to His Book and the Sunnah of His Messenger until the Day when we will meet Him. May Allaah grant blessings and peace to our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.

WASHINGTON, Jan 15: Al Qaeda leaders no longer feel safe in Afghan-Pakistan border areas, where they face heavy US and Pakistani pressure and their local welcome has worn out, CIA chief Michael Hayden said on Thursday.Hayden also said he believed Iran was nearing a decision on whether to proceed with development of a nuclear weapon.He stood by his defence of CIA waterboarding and said that regardless of whether the agency’s harsh interrogations will be judged worth the widespread condemnation, they worked.“The agency did none of this out of enthusiasm. It did it out of duty, and it did it with the best legal advice,” he said.Hayden said a disappointment of his 2 1/2-year term was that Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden was still at large. But he said Bin Laden and top lieutenants were no longer secure in the Pakistan mountain hideouts believed to be hiding them.“The great danger was that — I’m going to use a little euphemism here — the border region between Pakistan and Afghanistan was a safe haven for Al Qaeda,” Hayden said. “It is my belief that the senior leadership of Al Qaeda today believes that it is neither safe, nor a haven. NATO CHIEF SAYS THAT PAKISTAN IS DOING THE BEST JOB

ISLAMABAD (AFP) — NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer held talks with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad on Thursday on the regional situation and security along the Afghan border, officials said.
The talks were focused on "border security, NATO supplies, (and the) general regional situation," a presidential aide told AFP.
The government has always stressed that "a secure and stable Afghanistan is vital to Pakistan," the aide said.
A foreign ministry official said that de Hoop Scheffer is also expected to meet Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar.
US and NATO officials say Pakistan's rugged northwest tribal belt has become a safe haven for militants linked to the Taliban and Al-Qaeda who fled from neighbouring Afghanistan after the 2001 US-led invasion.
NATO leads the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), made up of more than 51,000 troops from nearly 40 countries, which is assisting Afghan government forces in the fight against an escalating Taliban-led insurgency.
Extremist attacks have plagued the main transport corridor from Pakistan used to re-supply NATO and other foreign forces operating in Afghanistan.
On Monday, de Hoop Scheffer said NATO needs 10,000 more troops to help provide security for scheduled elections in Afghanistan this year.

What is your new Year's Resolutions

So the 2008 is going, does it really mean to us? I think instead of celebrating the new year we should look behind what we have done in the previous year e.g.

*How many wars we have created?
*How much money we spent?
*How much we helped needy people?
*Do we have any plans for the new year?
*How much we borrowed the money and forget or ignored to return?
*Where we were in 2008 and where we will be in 2009?
*Does our existence will remain?

*How much sins we did in last year and will keep doing in the next year?
*Have we robbed someone in the past and will do it again?

Is there any pending thoughts in our hearts and minds which we planned to do in Jan 2008, then January passed February came its gone, March, April, ……December is in and still that promise or good deed is still not fulfilled.

When we are going to ask ourselves that how far we will go with this kind of life, If we are doing something bad and our inner person is telling us that stop it now but we don’t listen him and keep ignoring him, we are mean to ourselves? If the inner alarm is DEAD then its mean that we required to step out and start working towards the human being.

Build, Help, Love, Share, worship the only one Lord Allah and fallow the real path of his last prophet Mohammad (PBUH). PEACE

The hotel's new bombproof wall -- which is 14 feet (3.5-meter) high and 15 feet thick -- is capable of absorbing the shock of even a massive explosion like the one in September.

Born on December 25, 1876, in a prominent mercantile family in Karachi.
"We are a nation"
They claimed in the ever eloquent words of the Quaid-i-Azam- "We are a nation with our own distinctive culture and civilization, language and literature, art and architecture, names and nomenclature, sense of values and proportion, legal laws and moral code, customs and calandar, history and tradition, aptitudes and ambitions; in short, we have our own distinctive outlook on life and of life. By all canons of international law, we are a nation". The formulation of the Musim demand for Pakistan in 1940 had a tremendous impact on the nature and course of Indian politics. On the one hand, it shattered for ever the Hindu dreams of a pseudo-Indian, in fact, Hindu empire on British exit from India: on the other, it heralded an era of Islamic renaissance and creativity in which the Indian Muslims were to be active participants. The Hindu reaction was quick, bitter, malicious.Equally hostile were the British to the Muslim demand, their hostility having stemmed from their belief that the unity of India was their main achievement and their foremost contribution. The irony was that both the Hindus and the British had not anticipated the astonishingly tremendous response that the Pakistan demand had elicited from the Muslim masses.

Above all, they faild to realize how a hundred million people had suddenly become supremely conscious of their distinct nationhood and their high destiny. In channelling the course of Muslim politics towards Pakistan, no less than in directing it towards its consummation in the establishment of Pakistan in 1947, non played a more decisive role than did Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. It was his powerful advocacy of the case of Pakistan and his remarkable strategy in the delicate negotiations, that followed the formulation of the Pakistan demand, particularly in the post-war period, that made Pakistan inevitable.It was, therefore, with a sense of supreme satisfaction at the fulfilment of his mission that Jinnah told the nation in his last message on 14 August, 1948: "The foundations of your State have been laid and it is now for you to build and build as quickly and as well as you can". In accomplishing the task he had taken upon himself on the morrow of Pakistan's birth, Jinnah had worked himself to death, but he had, to quote richard Symons, "contributed more than any other man to Pakistan's survivial". He died on 11 September, 1948. How true was Lord Pethick Lawrence, the former Secretary of State for India, when he said, "Gandhi died by the hands of an assassin; Jinnah died by his devotion to Pakistan".

A man such as Jinnah, who had fought for the inherent rights of his people all through his life and who had taken up the somewhat unconventional and the largely mininterpreted cause of Pakistan, was bound to generate violent opposition and excite implacable hostility and was likely to be largely misunderstood. We were little late on the BBQ otherwise we had those chicken tikkas as well.... but the mutton tikkas did a job, hey but the grill was mine : ), JK, its all yours lolzzz

Share your Eid with poor people:
Can you enjoy only this eid with poor ? if yes than step out and share your eid with them if you cant do this its mean your eid is not eid its an cultural event for you.

Eid is not just to have BBQ or enjoy outing parties even people drink during the eid, watch movies, stayed out late night, listen songs loud, watch mujras, dance naked and what not.

Few thoughts:

We are forgetting what is the real meaning of Eid-ul-Adha ?
Why we do Qurbany ?
Why we have people on roads ?
Why these youth does not have shoes to wear, warm cloths etc ?
Why people are sleeping with no food at all ?

Here are few points which I catch from the Khutba at Arafat:

Women should not forget her duties, such as taking care of family.
Avoid all those media channels who take us towards the wrong track.
We all should come to common terms.
Mohammad (PBUH) did fast (ROZA) today.
Bloodshed by the super power is a negative act and Allah does not like it at all.
Oh people be ready for that day when one day will be equal to fifty thousand years long.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus

HIV stands for the Human Immunodeficiency Virus and is a 'Retrovirus'. Retroviruses consist of Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) and were discovered by Robert Gallo in 1978. They contain a special viral enzyme called Reverse Transcriptase, which allows the virus to convert its RNA to DNA and then integrate, and take over, a cell's own genetic material. Once taken over, the new cell - now HIV infected - begins to produce new HIV retroviruses. HIV replicates in and kills the helper T cells, which are the body’s main defense against illness.
HIV is ONLY spread through:
Sexual contact - unprotected vaginal or anal sex. Only condoms provide 'all-in-one' protection from pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections including HIV.
Direct innoculation of the virus - for example infection through contaminated needles
Contaminated blood products / transplanted organs. In the US all donated blood has been tested for HIV since 1985
An infected mother may sometimes pass the virus to her developing fetus during the birth or breast milk
In the first month to three months after a person is initially infected with the HIV virus is when that person is most infectious (i.e. meaning the amount of virus in their system is at its highest and T-cell counts are at their lowest). During the time, the body has not had time to react to the virus and produce an adequate immune response to start suppressing HIV.
More and more HIV viruses are produced and then released by a process known as budding. This means that when someone becomes infected with the HIV virus it begins to attack their immune system. This process is not visible and a person who is infected can look and feel perfectly well for many years and they may not know that they are infected. As their immune system weakens they become more vulnerable to illnesses that their immune system would normally have fought off. As time goes by they are likely to become ill more often and develop AIDS.

What is AIDS?

AIDS stands for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. When HIV infection becomes advanced it often is referred to as AIDS. It generally occurs when the CD4 count is below 200/mL and is characterized by the appearance of opportunistic infections. These are infections that take advantage of a weakened immune system and include:
Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia
Toxoplasmosis
Tuberculosis
Extreme weight loss and wasting; exacerbated by diarrhea which can be experienced in up to 90% of HIV patients worldwide
Meningitis and other brain infections
Fungal infections
Syphilis
Malignancies such as lymphoma, cervical cancer, and
Kaposi's Sarcoma
Today we know that Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a disease and not a syndrome. A syndrome is commonly used to refer to collections of symptoms that do not have an easily identifiable cause. This name was more appropriate 13 years ago, when doctors were only aware of the late stages of the disease and did not fully understand its mechanisms. A more current name for the condition, regardless of an AIDS diagnosis, is HIV Disease. This name is more accurate because it refers to the pathogen that causes AIDS and encompasses all the condition’s stages, from infection to the deterioration of the immune system and the onset of opportunistic diseases. However, AIDS is still the name that most people use to refer to the immune deficiency caused by HIV.
Acquired — because it is a condition that has to be contracted. It cannot be inherited or transmitted through the genes.
Immune — because it affects the body’s immune system, the part of the body that fights off diseases.
Deficiency — because it makes the immune system stop working properly.
Syndrome — because people with AIDS experience a number of different symptoms and opportunistic diseases.
What STDs can I get?
There are many different types of STD’s a gay man can get from having sex. The following is a listing of the major STD’s and how they can be transmitted:
Chlamydia - Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by a bacteria called Chlamydia trachomatis. It can spread from person to person during sexual intercourse (vaginal and anal) when a person's mucous membranes come into contact with the vaginal secretions or semen of an infected person. It can be transmitted without complete insertion of a penis into the vagina or anus. It is less likely, although possible, to be transmitted to the throat during oral sex. It can also be passed from mother to newborn during childbirth. Chlamydia infections are treatable and curable with antibiotics.
Gonorrhea - Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by a type of bacteria called Neisseria gonorrhoea. Gonorrhea can be transmitted to both male and female partners during vaginal, anal and oral sex from a partner infected in his or her throat, vagina, urethra or anus. Gonorrheal infections are completely curable with antibiotics.
Hepatitis - Hepatitis is the name for inflammation of the liver caused by several different viruses. The viruses are classified by letters of the alphabet -- with types A, B, and C being the most common. Each of these viruses can be transmitted in a number of ways, some sexually. Hepatitis B and C viruses can cause inflammation of the liver, liver failure, liver cancer, and death. Hepatitis B is the most common cause of liver cancer in the world. Chronic Hepatitis C (HCV) is the leading cause for liver transplants.
Herpes - Herpes is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV) and transmitted via direct skin-to-skin contact during oral, anal and vaginal sex. HSV I usually causes fever blisters and cold sores on the mouth, but can also cause sores on the genitals. HSV II usually causes sores on the genitals (vagina, penis, anus) and the skin around those areas. The majority of oral herpes cases are caused by HSV I and the majority of genital herpes cases are caused by HSV II; however, since so many people are now having oral sex, type-I is often appearing in the genitals. HSV is different from other common viral infections because once it is introduced into your system, it lives there forever, often with periodic symptoms or without symptoms at all.
HPV - HPV is the virus that causes genital and anal warts, also sometimes called condyloma. The virus may cause wart-like bumps to form on the penis, in and around the vagina, on the cervix (opening to the uterus), and/or around the rectum. The virus is passed via skin-to-skin contact from one person to another during anal or vaginal sex. Warts caused by HPV are not the same warts commonly found on hands and feet, and one type of wart can not be passed from one body part (hands and feet) to another (genital area).
Syphilis - Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by a type of bacteria called T. Pallidum. It can spread from person to person by physical contact during vaginal, anal, or oral sex. Syphilis infections are treatable and curable with antibiotics.
Crabs and Scabies - Crabs are very small bugs that attach themselves to pubic hair and bite the surrounding skin. Scabies are mites (bugs) that dig under the skin where they lay their eggs, often in the genital area. Both cause extreme itching in men and women. Both are usually passed from one person to another during sex, but can also be transmitted by having contact with clothes, bedding, and towels that have been used by an infected person. There are both over-the-counter and prescription creams available to get rid of crabs and scabies. Use as directed by your medical provider. You must also wash your clothing, bedding, and towels in hot water to avoid re-infection.
Molluscum Contagiosum - Molluscum or m. contagiosum is a skin affliction caused by a virus that can be passed from one person to another during sex or, more commonly, other close skin-to-skin contact. It is also possible for molluscum to be passed by sharing towels. It's commonly found in people that exercise in gyms and people who ride bicycles frequently. Symptoms include several smooth, firm, rounded bumps with a dip in the center that appear on the thighs, sex organs, buttocks, below the waist, and/or in the pubic hair. The bumps may be tan, yellow, grey or pink. Molluscum will go away on its own without any treatment or complications, but if you choose, the bumps can be frozen off by a medical provider with liquid nitrogen.
Shigella - This is a bacterial infection that causes serious stomach cramps and diarrhea. Shigella can easily be spread from one person to another through rimming (oral-anal contact) and from oral contact with contaminated skin including skin in the groin area, the testicles and the penis. Shigella can also be spread via fecally contaminated food and water. People with HIV are more likely to have serious complications from Shigella infections.. Shigella can be treated with antibiotics. Very thorough washing of your genitals and hands before and after sex can help prevent shigella and other infections, as well as using a barrier (cut-up condoms, dental dams, or household plastic wrap) for oral-anal sexual activities.
Non-Gonoccochal Urethritis (NGU) - Also called non-specific urethritis, this is an infection in the male urethra caused by bacteria such as chlamydia, mycoplasma, ureaplasma or trichomoniasis. NGU is passed from one person to another during anal, vaginal and possibly oral sex. Symptoms may include a mild discharge from the head of the penis that goes away after a few days and pain or burning upon urination. Antibiotics are used to cure NGU.
Trichomoniasis - Also known as trich, this is an infection caused by a protozoa that is passed from person to person during vaginal sex. Women have more symptoms than men, in fact most men have no symptoms. A prescription drug called metronidazole will cure trichomoniasis.

This tee is situated in Bahrain, at the round about of Poilice Fort in Manama its an huge tree and looks so nice while you cross the road. I am glad that these people do care about trees but they also spend lot of money while they grow them e.g one tree takes about one US $ in one day on labor such as water & cleaning.
