Origin of Conflict The India-Pakistan conflict dates back to 1947 , when British India was divided into two nations — India and Pakistan — on religious lines (Hindus in India and Muslims in Pakistan). The major point of conflict has been the region of Jammu & Kashmir , which acceded to India in 1947 but is claimed by Pakistan . Major Wars Between India and Pakistan First War – 1947-48 (First Kashmir War) Cause : Tribal militias from Pakistan invaded Kashmir.
